Hot Headlines from Miami: Alexia Nepola and Husband Todd Divorced but Still Together?
Real Housewives of Miami is just as colorful as the scenery of the art deco hotels and neon signs from Ocean Drive in South Beach, Miami. Right out of the gate, Episode 1, Season 7, one of the most interesting story lines is the divorce of “Cuban Barbie” Alexia Nepola from her third husband, Todd Nepola.
As Alexia has explained: “our marriage has ended but our relationship has not”. It has been a marriage fraught with misfortune. The couple married in December, 2021 after Covid delayed their nuptials. Alexia’s mother died on the first planned date. The marriage did not quite make the 3-year mark. Todd filed for divorce in April, 2024 and the divorce was finalized March, 2025. Supposedly Todd just moved out on a Saturday in April while Alexia was out of the marital condo for a few hours. (Alexia claims that they had a fabulous date night the night before.) Unbeknownst to her, Todd had rented another place a month prior and had moved some things over to the new place. Alexia claims when she got home, his things were gone, even the shampoo from the shower.
Alexia is no stranger to dramatic life events even prior to this divorce. Her first husband, Pedro “Peter/Pegy” Rosello is a convicted drug trafficker. Just prior to their wedding, he was arrested. While out on bond, they had their first son, Peter. Their second son, Frankie, was born after Rosello’s second release from incarceration. As part of Rosello’s deal with the prosecution, he only served about 4 years of his 24-year prison sentence due to his involvement with the Los Muchacho Crime Family.
Alexia’s second marriage was to a popular, Cuban-born, civic Hialeah/Miami leader, Herman Echevarvia. He died in his sleep at age 61 in 2015. Alexia and Herman married in 2004, but they were estranged at his time of death. After his passing, Alexia shared that Herman was a homosexual and that she regretted that he had not shared his sexual preference while married because she would have played match maker for him and some of her gay friends.
Alexia’s youngest son, Frankie, was severely injured in an auto accident when he was 13. His injuries included permanent brain injuries. He was in a coma for weeks and spent months hospitalized. His recovery was shared with viewers, making him a fan favorite. (As an aside, it seems that Frankie was home and watched Todd move out in April, 2024—just adding more drama to Alexia’s storyline.) However, Alexia claims that she is not single, hinting that perhaps she and Todd can reconcile or have reconciled?
As a divorce lawyer, I know that some separating couples do reconcile. Studies show that 15-25% of all couples who separate do get back together. And, studies show that about 6% of divorced couples do remarry their former spouse.
Why do couples reconcile and remarry? The reasons are varied. Some couples report that the time apart gave them the opportunity to reflect and heal. Others think that the children will fare better if their parents reunite. Some report that they just do not want to waste the time that they had with the other spouse and that reuniting is the answer. And, of course, some couples report that financially their lives are better being under one roof again.
The rumors are that perhaps there is a financial reason for the split between Alexia and Todd Nepola. Todd, a real estate developer, said many times in the past that it did not make sense to purchase real estate/a new home for him and Alexia. Only time may tell. There are numerous post-divorce photos showing Todd and Alexia together on vacations and dates.
If Todd and Alexia reconcile, they will be joining other divorced celebrities who reconnect, reconcile, and remarry. That list includes several major “stars”; Dionne Warwick, Marie Osmond, Barbara Walters, Melanie Griffith and Don Johnson, Eminem, Larry King, Elizabeth Taylor and Richard Burton, and one of the undisputed Queens of Housewives NeNe Leakes and Gregg from Atlanta. (NeNe’s memoir-Never Make the Same Mistake Twice-what an interesting title. Should it be mandatory reading for divorcing couples? Hum….) Here’s hoping for the best for Alexia and Todd.
